Christoph Ziegler

For me, everyday life with its margins, taboos, inadequacies and rituals is increasingly becoming a source of my artistic inspiration. The most common and most trivial things transform into the raw material for my artworks where the reality is rearranged.

The living room as the scene of the private and the projection for the hidden desires of everyday life - in his photographs Christoph Ziegler stage himself with furniture and household items to unique installation Portraits.

Christopher (born 1973) lives and works in Hamburg and Athens. After studying sculpture at the University of the Arts, a scholarship took him to the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille.  Other scholarships and exhibitions in Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden and Athens followed. Christopher's installation projects in public spaces have already been shown in numerous cities: The project The Utopian Institute in Leipzig, Weimar, Skopje, Hamburg and Dessau, and in 2009 at the Sculpture Park Berlin as well as 2011 as part of the art project Kiosk Free in Munich.

The relationship between space, the human body and the subject is examined in detail by Christoph. In his portrait series MOEBLING the artist transforms  familiar surroundings to a gymnastic experiment. Whether traveling with friends or performing live - no place is safe from Christopher installations and choreographies. In cooperation with various photographers performance, movement, interaction and sculpture are shown in distinctive images.
